Pressotherapy and hip arthroplasty: effectiveness tested with our I-Press

From today you can read in the Journal of Clinical Medicine the study on the use of pressotherapy in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty.
This study, conducted by Dr. Luca Marin, at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery of the University Hospital “Istituto di Cura Città di Pavia”, featured our I-Press.
Our device achieved excellent results in reducing post-surgery oedema of the lower limbs, total hip arthroplasty.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of specific intermittent pneumatic compression on lower limb oedema, compared to standard conservative treatment.

To this end, 47 people (men and women) were randomly assigned to two groups, which performed two different therapies for the same period (10 days).

-24 people (PG group) underwent pressotherapy and standard conservative treatment.
In addition to conservative treatment, patients underwent pressotherapy sessions twice a day (30 min, 100 mmHg).

-23 people (CG group) underwent only standard conservative treatment: pharmacological prophylaxis, use of compression stockings and electrotherapy treatments (using our T-ONE Rehab device).

Pressotherapy with I-Press was extremely effective in reducing thigh and calf circumference and lower limb oedema.

A special thanks goes not only to Dr. Luca Marin and his team, but also to the Istituto di Cura Città di Pavia.
